We promise, it wasn’t! And neither is the work we produce. At Robin, we are, however, collectively rethinking how we do work because of generative AI and exploring how to utilize it effectively.
Capturing a customer's attention and staying ahead of competitors isn’t easy. This is where we often come in. As a brand studio, identifying the target audience and how to connect with them in impactful ways is always top of mind. While we’re all very much beginners when it comes to using tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney, they are helping us unlock new ideas and work more efficiently across our disciplines.
To spark new ideas for you and your team, we asked Robins to share how they are using generative AI in their day-to-day work, as well as what has been most impactful thus far. Here’s what we heard:
Design
“If I feel myself getting stuck in a visual rut, I’ll use Midjourney to quickly explore some ideas and see if they feel right or not. They function as nothing more than early sketches, versus something we’d use in actual production.” - Dom, Art Director
Marketing
“When kicking off larger marketing projects, ChatGPT helps me quickly build a basic strategy outline. It's quick and opens up time for me to delve deeper into the heart of the work.” - Ilse, Director of Strategy
“ChatGPT helps me generate and test email subject lines and blog post titles to find the best performing ones for certain audiences.” - Jamie, Social Media Coordinator
“ChatGPT helps me kick off audience research. The ability to keep generating new responses gives me a solid database to dive into so I can explore where audiences live and absorb content online.” - Rich, Marketing & Communications Coordinator
“When a social media platform has character limits for caption copy, I use ChatGPT to help refine written content so it fits within these parameters.” - Jamie, Social Media Coordinator
Public Relations
“I use ChatGPT for research. For example: What are some good podcasts to listen to about sports betting? or What are some of the best sports conferences happening in New York in the fall? These quick hits help lay the building blocks for broader research or writing.” - Erica, Director of Communications
“ChatGPT helps me develop captivating panel titles for speaker submissions and email subject lines for pitches, both of which have resulted in earned media opportunities.” - Rich, Marketing & Communications Coordinator
“ChatGPT helps me edit drafted content to ensure it is concise, to the point, and grammatically correct. It is a great editing tool and helps take my writing to the next level.” - Gianna, PR & Communications Manager
Operations
“As a visual person, I tend to become overly verbose while writing. I use ChatGPT to help truncate my emails and edit the tone. I edit the results afterwards, but it gets me 90% of the way there!” - Dom, Art Director
“Chat GPT is helpful in exploring new ways to phrase pitches, business development emails, and make sure services are positioned clearly and concisely. Admittedly, I can be very wordly, so ChatGPT is helpful in cutting out unnecessary language.” - Ben, Director of Operations and Partnerships
